Ya Ta Hay Mighty Fox Tribe,
It is time to begin our journey for the new season, and I want to be the first to welcome all of our family back to the Papoose Nations.
This year we will be better prepared for our adventures because we have already done these things. And now it falls to us to help guide our new friends that will be joining us.
I trust I can count on each and every one of us to fulfill our responsibility.
Tomorrow night Chief Brian and I will be attending the New Dad's orientation, welcoming our new members to our family.
Then next week we will have the Induction Ceremony. I remember attending last year, not knowing anyone in our tribe, except Jeff and Emma. It is not easy coming into a new group not knowing anyone.
So this year I have decided that we should come together as a group, with all of our families, and enjoy some time to ourselves prior to the induction.
So, please mark your calendars and plan to join us at the First Annual Fox Tribe Family Cook Out. We'll be grillin' and chillin'.
I really hope to have 100% of our group there.
Your invitations are coming your way as we speak.
Now, here is an excellant way to start out the year. You can reply to this post and announce that you will be attending, and you can even tell us what you plan to bring so everyone can see, and know what they should bring.
The cook out will also be our first chance to start planning for the Dinosaur Valley camping trip, we'll pick our meals and plan our activities.
So, I look forward to hearing from you and to seeing you and your families at the Cook Out/Induction Ceremony.

Carnival Update
Wow, what a great time we had at this years carnival, and what an awesome turn out.
The Fox Tribe can proudly say that we had 100% participation this year, all of our dad's and all of our mom's were there to help run our booth activities.
The spin art was our most popular activity, with the wampum bags and dart board right behind.
The lemonade was very refreshing and the posters were being talked about by other tribes.
Our special thanks to Steve for getting the ice for us, I know several of the other tribes really appreciated this, as they found themselves short during the day and very gratefully helped themselves to our stash.
I hope everyone of our dad's took as much pride in our success this weekend as I did.
Now, on to the induction ceremony.

Patch Designs
At last weeks Longhouse the children of the Chief's and the Assistant Chief's were asked to select the winners for this years patch designs. What a great thing it is to work with your child to create a design that will be turned into a patch that will be worn by all of the kids in the program.
This year the Papoose will have three new patch's, designed just for us. The Train Ride, The Fishing Event and The Christmas Party. We had these events last year but did not have patch's, so this year I am very excited to see patch's.
And I am really happy that one of our own kids, my son, William, had one of his designs picked. Even more exciting, Will had two of his designs chosen. The Christmas Party and The Fishing Event. I am very proud of Will and the work that he did.
And I am really proud of all of the kids that turned in a design.

Carnival Time
This ain't Rio, but it's still Carnival time. But even better, this is the YMCA Father/Child Carnival. The kick off event for the new year.
Already some awesome things are happening with the Y Guides. A new Smoke Signal format, updated and more current with it's content, and a vibrant, informative Federation web site.
These two things will help us greatly in getting the most up to date info to our Dad's.
I hope everyone has already made plans to join us at the carnival and the induction ceremony.
I promise a good time will be had by all.

Fox Tribe Update
Things are starting to heat up, not only the weather, but the Y-Guides upcoming year.
August is going to be a fun month for us.
We have the Little Chief's Longhouse on the 19th, and at this meeting we will pick the winners of the patch design contest. All of our kids are invited to submit their designs for the Papoose events, the train ride, fishing outing and the Christmas party. Then at the Longhouse the children of the Chief's and Assistant Chief's will pik the winners.
Get your designs in to me or Brian by the 16th.
Speaking of the 16th. That is the day we are going to Fort Worth to see the Cats play baseball. We'll begin our day at the local city park, enjoying a hamburger and hot dog cook out. Then we'll head over to the ballpark for a fun family night. Let me know how many tickets you'll need so I can get them purchased.
On the 26th we'll have another Dad's meeting, at Buffalo Wild Wings. 297 and Debbie Lane in Mansfield. 6:30 - 8:00.
Our topic? The YMC carnival.
Speaking of the YMCA Carnival. That is on August 30th, from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Central YMCA branch.
This is our big recruiting event to kick off the year, so we need everyone to be there, to help man our booth.
Our booth will consist of crafts (wampum bags and spin art), a game of bust the balloons, and an old fashioned lemonade stand with cookies and cupcakes.
We'll have lots of beads to hand out and maybe we'll make some new friends.
Everyone should have their time slots and assignments, so let's get busy gettin' busy.
And finally, I am please to announce that the newest edition of The Smoke Signal is now posted on the YMCA website. I am really pleased to have had the opportunity to contribute to the program by taking over as newsletter editor and taking the title of Federation Drum Beater.
It is both a pleasure, and an honor to serve the Y Guides and our kids.
Check out the Smoke Signal at:

So as you can see we'll be running full steam in just a few weeks, and before you know it we'll be back out there campng again, only 58 dqays until our first camp out at Dinosaur Valley.
A happy summer to all..............
